Bug: Underscore not displayed correctly in paths (ASL?)

Ok, so i have seen this numerous times and wondered why is that and why does it looks o strange.

Is it a bug, or a design choice?

Here is the picture:

As you can see in the "Path:" field, the underscore is drawn beneath the "H" of "HDD".
It's just a minor graphical glitch, but it annoys me like hell.

My questions:
1) Why is that?
2) Can something be done about it?
3) Which part of the OS is causing this?

nb: I used @trixie's great ADRipper, but i've seen it in other OS components aswell, just can't find any right now

The answer is to get the author of the application to add "GA_Underscore, ~0" to the string gadget tags. It's not an OS issue.
