Unable to soft reset since last update

Post by daveyw »

Hi,

I installed update 6 fine last year. Last weekend, I ran AmiUpdate for the first time, and a number of items were updated. Since the, I cannot soft reset anymore either with the reboot command or e.g. AmiUpdate.

Whenever I do, the spashscreen appears. After a few seconds it disappears then comes back, and I get a Guru Meditation.

This is what was updated:
Hidden Text - Click to Show :
AmiDock
ATIRadeon_chip
Calculator_cmd
graphics_lib
Kernel
MUI
PCIGraphics_card
PetesFTP
Prefs_Input
rtg_lib
W3D_Picasso96_lib
W3D_R200_lib
W3D_Radeon_lib
Warp3D_lib
window_class
WorkbenchGuide
workbench_lib
Hardware is AmigaOne XE 800mhz.

Ah, finally, i thought it is my setup acting up again.

"Me too"

Though i don't get any crashes, the splash screen just sits there with no going further forever
(Seems some program is either locking up or halting the boot process)

First, replace the CR2032 battery and power off your machine for at least an hour. Then power it back on and see if the behaviour persists.

Thanks Steve.

I gave it a go, no change.

BTW, this was the first time I changed out the battery. While I had been told that doing so would reset my uboot settings, that didn't happen.

They probably were...as long as you havent changed any settings (or your dealer) they might have been written to the battery as default settings when you powered it on again with a battery in place.

Of ourse this just hypothetical...i am no on my X right now and cant test

Just for the record, it didn't change for me aswell after changing the battery.

It's more a problem of some program crashing/locking up because i can't use the keyboard to do a hard reset in that state, need to use the case button
