During the Alchimie show, I came across a VIA USB 2 card.

I already own a Nec one in my AmigaOne which is working flawlessly and i wanted to make this one work for Crisot's AmigaOne.

I plugged it in my AmigaOne replacing the Nec one. It booted but whenever I tried to copy some files, it crashed. I gave up.

Then, near the end of the show I wanted to test again and ended up with the same result. But I tried another thing : disabling in U-Boot 2 of the 4 internal USB ports. And you know what : it worked. I had deactivated the 2 front USB ports.

I then plugged the card in Crisot's AmigaOne and this time I deactivated the 2 rear USB ports in U-Boot (since Crisot needs the front ones). Same result : it worked (multiple copy tests lead to no crash).

So there seems to be a conflict with internal USB ports and a VIA card (maybe because it's the same chipset) but I have none of these troubles with the Nec card.

Hoping that this can help someone.

Thanks for the report K-L. Can you also give us the PCI info of the card?

I also tried disabling ports but found no difference. And had disabled my rear ports years ago when I connected the onboard USB ports to my card reader with a "resistor pack" hot fix. Infact I had tried to disable all in UBoot in an attempt to clean up my USB log but OS4 kept using the A1 USB ports!

However, I will try again to disable these ports and see if makes any difference. But, that crash may be fixed already in the drivers and my USB driives could not mount at all.

Unfortunately, I do not have this card anymore since it's installed in Crisot's AmigaOne. :-(

I just purchased a Hama 062755 USB 2.0 4 port pci-card and can confirm that I works. I have only tested it with at flash drive, but it was lightning fast at least compared to the other USB ports on my AmigaOne XE G3.

The card has a NEC chip.

I have purchased this PCI card with a 3port internal Hub

I installed it today and both the rear ports work.
I don't now how to test the speed, but I can play .avi movies from a 500gb external drive with DvPlayer.

The only problem (?) I have is opening pdf files directly from the hard drive.
If I copy them to ram: they AmiPDF opens them fine, but I just get a busy pointer if I try to open directly.
This might be a problem with AmiPDF rather than USB.

This card combining 5 USB 2 ports (NEC), 1 internal SATA 1 port and 1 external SATA port (Sil3512) works flawlessly in my AmigaOne XE.

Unfortunately, it's very hard to find and it seems that it's a French product only since I couldn't find any English resellers selling it.

But if you can find one, you'll save a PCI port in your AmigaOne :-)
