I have a good bit of experience with CAMD, and the USB driver, but I am JUST BEGINNING to learn about AHI drivers.
(I have been REALLY BUSY learning as much as I can).

SInce I don't have a Juli@ card, we'll need to work together to solve this.
Please check the following assumptions and make sure I understand the problem:

1>At some time in the past, The Juli@ driver gave good sound AND a working MIDI interface.
2>Lately, it STILL makes good sound, but the MIDI ports do not appear in CAMD.

Is that correct? I am trying to figure out if it's losing MIDI, or losing the entire card.
That will be a good place to start. Easiest way to check for ports is the "showclusters"
command from the CAMDTools package.

I will help if I can, but please be patient, I have a LOT going on lately.

Also, just for the record: Because of the way they interface with CAMD, USB MIDI ports
will ALWAYS be better than sound card ports. By "better" I mean better performance
AND a lighter load on the computer. Sound card drivers have to read and write
single bytes through the card, while USB devices handle streams of complete
MIDI messages, which is much faster and easier on CAMD.

I'll take a shot at keeping the existing sound card MIDI support working, but I seriously
doubt there will be any MIDI support for newer cards. USB is the future of MIDI.

A big and fancy YES to 1> and 2> :-)

The only "advantage" i see right now in getting Envy24HT CAMD MIDI support back is
that on spares a cable and an USB port...but thats about it.

Maybe you can simply proclaim the MIDI support dead and lead everyone on the USB MIDI road?
Would be less work ;-)

...of course, id still like to know WHY it stopped creating the MIDI interface...

This is the sound card that I tried:

Currently I'm woorking on the Envy24HT audio driver to support that card (or other cards with a VT1618 AC97 codec) and there are already good results ;)

Nice work.
Hope to try the updated driver on a Sam440ep-Flex with one of these soon.

Actually my used Juli@Xte Pci-e can do 24bit output, it is possible to enable that in the Envy24HT-AHI-Driver?
AHI is showing me only 16bit-Mode.

Sorry I disappeared for a while. Congratulations on the success of getting the VT1618 codec working! I verified that it works with the Envy24DT sound card that I have. It sounds great! Now there is a nice low cost and modern alternative for audio on OS4.1. I actually ended up getting a juli@ XTe card which I have to say sounds just phenomenal.
