SAM440EP Restart/Reboot problem

Post by dh1 »

Hi all!

Please help!

When I restart AMIGAOS4.1u6 was, after the title screen I get the following message:

Please insert
ENV:
in any drive
Process: 17 "GrimReaper"

Then:

Guru Meditation: 80000003
Task 0x5FD0A790 ("")
generated an error of type DSI (Data Storage Interrupt)
on adress 0x0166F45C
Redzone was not damaged
Stackpointer is inside bounds

Only the on-off switch helps.

Only reboot/restart ...
The basic start is normal.

It was nothing changes in the STARTUP and USER STARTUP scripts.
The file system is the latest PPC SFS.
U2 update work with restart and OS4.1 CD-ROM as well.
After U3 is a cast update Reboot so you can stop.
Interestingly, not all the time!
Sometimes it restarts okay.

PSU: mini ATX desktop - I replaced the power supply is another.
One SATA HDD and a SATA CD drive in your computer.
R9200 is a PCI slot.
USB devices wireless keyboard and mouse.
Interestingly, the error only works when the mouse up and down directions ...

This to me is an old problem.
Occurs even after a clean OS install, but only after U3.

Therefore, I think that this problem is not hardware investment.
More like a software problem.

My Config:
SAM440EP Mini-ITX 667 with latest FW
512 MByte RAM
AOS4.1.6

Thanx!

Just to prove to yourself that the hardware is OK, plug the Install CD back in and make sure that it boots OK and you can open windows, etc.

Sorry that I can't be more helpful, but somehow you have corrupted your installation. There is no safe way to repair it, I would advise you to format the partition and start again with the whole series of updates. Do not install any other software or even change preferences.

As long as you install *only* the updates, it is guaranteed to work. Do not install anything else until you have a clean Update 6 installed, running and copied to a spare partition. If you keep some backups of the Clean Updates on spare, small partitions, then you won't have to go through the whole process again.
cheers

Hi Tonyw!

Thanks for the quick reply!
A friend of mine advised deactivated by the EHCI.USBHCD module in the Kickstart (Kicklayout file).

Working!

Since then restart/reboot it works fine ...

What could be causing this problem?

Remember: Every Update reaktivate Your Kicklayout !

Bevor I reboot on my A1-XE i do reconfigure my Kicklayout and Burn an BootCD wirh AmiDVD. (I startet after Update4)
But bevor i Do a clean Install put all Updates on a seperate Partitions or so. Much easier ;)
