The slot is hidden behind the motherboard, but where? Could the SD card be inserted without taking
the board out of the case?

Re: SD card to AmigaOne500.
The card slot is under the board, as you said. It is just visible with the board in the case, if you look at the edge of the board in line with the PCI slot, but on the edge of the board away from the external connectors. You will need a torch to see it, and you will need to look at an angle, so that you can see under the board.
It should be possible to insert an SD card into the slot, but you might have trouble getting it out again. It's not intended for frequent insertion/removal.

Thank you. I found this picture showing the underside of the board.
Do you think that sam will recognize any sd card? I have a spare 4GB
card that came with my Nikon camera. It is not used.

There is no driver for it AFAIK, so you won't be able to use it.

But a new one from the shop would work, like this one? 13€.

It won't work in the Sam 460 unless there is a device driver program installed that can talk to the card in its own language. No such driver has been written, so you will not be able to see it, read or write to it under OS4. There may be something under Linux, but you'd have to talk to a Linux buff about that.

Fortunately, tonyw, you were wrong. There is a built-in driver for the sd interface, usbdisk.device.
I have now my AOS4.1 installed in that 16GB card.
And secondly, the card can be easily removed. Just push it and it comes out. I'm impressed.

Re: SD card to AmigaOne500.
Yeah, it's working just fine here as well (original Sam460ex). The card slot simply looks to the system as a simple USB card reader. No need to worry about SD slot drivers.
You can even boot from it (but that's probably also due to a bit of magic in the SLB and/or massstorage).
Edit: I'm not sure what size my card is; it is possible that only SD, not SDHC cards (> 4GB) work, but I am not sure.
Best regards,
Niels
