Hi duga!

Glad you asked! Now, I believe there is "Something Rotten in the State of Denmark." I have re-established a very good running install of AOS 4.1 FE. My Sam 460ex is 1150 MHz Freq: 50 Hz. I have the SATA HD plugged into Com1 of the 3114 and the DVD-R in

I have installed a higher quality sheilded CAT VI cable today. I'm getting a better response. However, I'll take any suggestions on what I can do to improve U-Boot environment or just leave it as is. It is very apparent that Odyssey is not quite functional for certain websites. Prior to spending a little money and time this Sam 'Lazarus' was giving Grim Reapers out like candy. AOS 4.1 FE is running smooth as silk now. Just trying to make sure I'm not looking over the settings you don't see. Thanks!!

Cheers!!

The baudrate (115200) has nothing to do with your ethernet ports. Leave it as it is.

I'm using a SSD disk in my Sam440. I guess you're using a mechanical HDD?

I'm not saying that Odyssey is blazingly fast, it _is_ slow on "heavier" sites, which is expected on a G3@733 MHz. But it works.

What broadband connection do you use? Try http://os4depot.net/index.php?function= ... ometer.lha and make sure that you can utilize your full bandwidth. If not we can try optimizing your TCP settings, if needed.

Hi duga,

Yes, 1 TB SATA HD. 10GB SFS/02 System partition, 10GB SFS/02 Work partition and a 4GB SWAP for giggles. The rest of the disk space is unallocated. After careful consideration and a little more snooping, I'm with you on the Baudrate. U-Boot looks fine. I am on GB Cable IPv4 and IPv6 running a Motorola Arris SB6141 and a Linksys 750N Router. Both Gigabyte. Mac, Windows and the X1000 run great. Okay I've got the NetSpeedometer Connection Rank of 4 Mbit/s Cable/DSL. Max. Download- 321 Max Upload- 12. This is after loading the YouTube page only and then coming here to post. Misc Tab: Link Speed- 1000 Mbit/s MTU size- 1518 bytes. Saved this post as draft and went back to play youtube video. The result was no change in NetSpeedometer. Music came across just fine and video sloow. After approx. mid way music gets choppy. If the TCP settings were maximized, I believe the result would be way better, I mean Odyssey is soo close to working fine. I know Sam460 is slow with Odyssey after a year of keeping up with the posts about it, but c'mon! So close.

Cheers!!

Ok uboot vars doesn't look to have something odd/strange.

You can check too for roadshow envvars in 'ENVARC:Roadshow/tcp' I have 4 set:
(maybe they speed up a little your connection, make first ab backup of "old"/existing roadshow/tcp variables if you have)

Code: Select all

#l
do_timestamps 2 ----rwed 03-Feb-14 13:05:09
do_win_scale 2 ----rwed 03-Feb-14 13:05:09
mssdflt 5 ----rwed 03-Feb-14 13:05:09
recvspace 6 ----rwed 03-Feb-14 13:05:09
use_mssdflt_for_remote 2 ----rwed 03-Feb-14 13:05:09
#type do_timestamps
0
#type do_win_scale
0
#type mssdflt
1460
#type recvspace
65536
#type use_mssdflt_for_remote
0
Use SETENV to create such env-variables example: 'setenv roadshow/tcp/recvspace 65536' (and add 'SAVE' option to make'em persistent)

Thanks javierdlr!

Yes Roadshow is same as well. Also deleted connection and created a new connection Auto DHCP and leaving out the Subnet Mask this time. Again, everthing looks good. When I downloaded AmiUpdates after install to downloading NetSpeedometer using Odyssey today, you wouldn't know that 'Lazarus' can't play a YT video or read news on MSN happily with Odyssey to save it's life. I find nor found anything physically or software that has issues now. Plays music CD's and DVD movies very well. USB ports are great. ENVY24 card great (when I figured out AHI settings) and the 2 GB GDDR Radeon HD 5450 is outstanding. So comparing to your Roadshow and NVGETVAR, Lazarus is looking good.

Cheers!!

Judging by the software installed on the original AOS 4.1 System, Work and Games partitions, this Sam460ex has a back-story. Received with the wrong RAM type and an R7 250E 1 GB DDR3 XFX card causing Soft and Hard Reset issues plus Grim Reapers. At some point the original RAM, GPU and SATA card was replaced as shown in original AmigaKit purchase documents. The case and power supply was changed somewhere back as well to a Silverstone Mini ATX and 550 watt power supply. So, I'd say I'm doing well. Lazarus' specs now are 2GB Crucial DDR2 800 MHz RAM, XFX Radeon HD 5450 2GB GDDR3 GPU, ENVY24HT Sound card and 3114 SATA Raid with 1 TB SATA HD and DVD-RW. That fills up this Mini case.
With that I will try my hand installing Linux on it! ;) I don't give up too easily. Back to the X1000 for now.

Cheers!!

Hello again!

I would like to thank all of you again! Here's where I am now:
Removed the 1 TB SATA HD and went 16 GB MicroSD card only. DVD-RW installed on the 3114 card. System and Work SFS/00 partitions. Buffers - 2500. DDR2 Boost = Read & Write. Running 1900 X 1200 res. with DVI just fine. This machine is screaming. RunInUAE - no problems! Odyssey is great for forums and as a download manager from OS4Depot. I can say that I'm truly impressed with it's performance now. It took a little time and spending money along with all of your support to get here. It's worth it.

Thanks and Cheers!!
John

The SATA HD made a nice addition to the X1000 for Ubuntu.
