My Sam460ex Onboard Ethernet stopped working for 1 day (No lights and was not recognized at all) It is working again. During that period I experimented with a pciex1 to pci adapter .
My Tested Configuration :
PCI 8139 Network card on Pex8112 PCIex1 to PCI adapter . Sil3112 SATA controller in PCI slot .
configuration has problems in AmigaOS 4.1 FE .(Probably with pci DMA on the SATA card) Downloading or operations with larger files cause the Sam460ex to freeze. Downloading to USB storage was ok. Regular AmigaOS 4.1 FE Web use seemed ok . All seems to work ok under Linux.
Fortunately my Sam460ex on board Ethernet is working again for now.

I have had intermittent probs with my Sam 460 in the past. Usually it just would not boot or would crash as soon as WB appeared. Each time I had to remove the SODIMM from the mobo, clean the socket and SODIMM contacts carefully with a small brush and replace it again.
I hesitate to suggest it unless you know how to handle static-sensitive components, but that was my experience.
As everything except the onboard ethernet working very well for now I think that I will leave it for a while.(Only thing that I cant do is TFTP boot Linux kernels) I had a Sam440ep-flex which occasionally would not start up at all for days .After leaving it for a while it would start up and work ok for months. The problem also manifested itself with the ethernet not working at startup. This was followed immediately by a crash followed by total failure to boot .
