Perfect, try installing " compiz-fusion-plugins-extra " if you have not installed, will provide very good additional effects.musa wrote:And works in gnome also now .musa wrote: Works perfectly in LXDE after uninstall but not in gnome
but it works after "compiz --replace" is added to startup programs
It did not work for me when I used the command in a terminal.

I installed it but have not had time to look. Right now I'm trying with ubuntu and compiz. Here is compiz up in the next version. It's pretty cool what you have found out here with compizFernecho wrote:

I believe compiz is back in the testing repository.
Maybe someone can give it a try

compiz works in debian and mint. In ubuntu, I can't get the radeon driver to work decently and without that no working compiz in ubuntu.thawk wrote:I believe compiz is back in the testing repository.

Re: Compiz work with Debian Wheezy
I haven't tested Compiz in any of the distros but the issue with Ubuntu hardware acceleration is that the default user is not part of the video group. This is exactly the same fix as used for sound.musa wrote:compiz works in debian and mint. Code: Select all
sudo usermod -a -G video username
Then type
Code: Select all
groups
Make the changes for xorg.conf.d and radeon.sh as per this post http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz ... =60#p13027. Now reboot and acceleration should be available. Ubuntu (Unity 3D) doesn't work for me. Login with Ubuntu 2D (Unity 2D) or perhaps install gnome-panel (classic) which works nicely

Re: Compiz work with Debian Wheezy
Why have I thought of that myself
Yes the graphics card was found but compiz goes into conflict with ubuntu. Even gnome without effekts can start. Only Lubuntu starts and I can then disable compiz and get ubuntu to work again, so far no compiz in ubuntu for me.

Re: Compiz work with Debian Wheezy
I also tried it with Ubuntu, and I have not been successful, I get the same result as musa.
For now I'll stick with Wheezy, Compiz effects work all smoothly.

I want give compiz a try too ,if it is avaibletrevordick wrote:1. Mint already installedthawk wrote:Simple compositing in LXDE:
1) Install Linux Mint PPC as described in the X1k-Linux manual

Add the following line:
@xcompmgr -n
4) Restart gdm (as SU)
> /etc/init.d/gdm stop
> /etc/init.d/gdm start
Login again.
5) You should now have transparency effects etc. on your desktop when using tools like screenlets.
2. xcompmgr installs OK
3. Opening a regular terminal and typing SU to enter root then typing> gedit /etc/xdg/lxsession/Mint-LXDE/autostart fails to open the file for edit. However if i open a root terminal I am able to gedit the file and save the changes.
Questions.
When adding @xcompmgr -n to autostart do you have to deactivate any other lines.
Which desktop should I select to start (Mint LXFE, Gnome, etc?)
I would still like to try the Compix effect in MintPPC11 if possible.
Thanks
