Seeking a funtional SCSI-Card working in X1000

Post by zappa2009 »

Hi .
Im seeking that from the Topictitle.
I have already 2 53C8xx SCSI-Karte but i none are realy working.

I checkt TERM-Power , SCSI-Cables (UW and FastSCSI2!) the correct aktive Terminators at both Ends but i doesnt work.

Mediatoolbox see the LSI53c8xx.device but the SCSI-Busscan take 2 Mins and the it shows a SCSI-DAT-Streamer or a SCSI-HDD but i can write an RDB.

I hope some can say which SCSI-Karte are known good and work.

And i hope a Hint were to buy ;)

I may be off base, but are you sure your hard drives are compatible with this setting? Many former server drives are "locked" in a fashion to XBox drives. There is a discussion of this in the Classic forum. Atlas (formerly made by Maxtor) seem to work best with the "KillRDB" command only necessary maybe 25% of the time.

I will try KillRDB but the UW-SCSI_devices (I my Case 3 UW-HDDs from my Amiga4000) are already with an RDB on it.

But my Question is: Why a SCSI-Driver for OS4.x when no one can say this (Insert SCSI-CardName here) were tested with this settings on a NG-Amiga

Maybe because no betatesters have any SCSI drives to check. They are rather rare these days. It is rather impressive that yours are still working.

Would you not be better off ditching the SCSI drives? Skip the parallel IDE step in evolution altogether and go straight to SATA.
cheers

I tried all sort of cards when I had receive my X1000.
As for SCSII, the one I've tried a symbios logic 53c875j based card (Compaq) with a CD-ROM (Plextor), It worked but I did'nt tried to connect an HardDisk.

I have tons of working 9gb, 18gb, 36gb and a few 73gb SCSI hard drives, plus I also have SCSI JAZ & ZIP removable drives that I have used on various Classic Amiga systems. It would be nice to have a working SCSI controller in my X1000, specially for the removable drives, so I could "Sneaker Net" files between my Classic Amigas and the X1000.

All of my many SCSI hard drives were mostly intended for Toaster/Flyer systems to store video content, but I never totally finished my video studio setup. Now with everything going digital and High Def., it does not make much sense to set up all of this old NTSC equipment, but I would still like to do it some day. Maybe this gear will be useful for some NTSC resolution web videos where full screen HD resolution is not needed or wanted.

Good News.

Type -> Compaq 53c875J UW (68pol) and FastSCSI2-Anschluss (50pol). ModelNumber -> Compaq 3654-002

And a short Test unter OS4.1.6 on my X1000.

I have this SCSI-Chain.

I think the Controller has AutoTermPower enabled. The only Jumper on it is open. I found it on Ebay but without a Manual. If someone found it please post it or do a PN.

Zappa2009, So it's the same I've tested.

I'm glad you found a way to use your scsi devices with your AmigaOne X1000.

Congrats on finding a SCSI controller card that works in your X1000 under AmigaOS4.x. A quick look on eBay does not show any of these SCSI cards available, so I will have to look elsewhere to find one. If you know of any other locations that have such a card for sale, please let me know.

Hopefully the last few bugs preventing the X1000's onboard ethernet adapter from working reliably will be solved soon, so I will have an additional PCI slot to use by the time I find a working SCSI controller card.
