My X1000 wasn't booting unless I unplugged it and held the top power button down for up to 60 seconds. it also wouldn't turn off via the top power button nor reset via the top reset button.

I changed the BIOS battery and it's incredibly behaving itself again. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

It might be worth changing your BIOS battery as a quick and easy thing to try. I say 'easy' but it is proper tricky to get the damned battery out :-)

Any chance you happen to check the battery voltage before or after removal?

I still have the battery, but no multimeter any more to test it with. I am due a trip to Maplin though so I'll try and get one soonish.

X1000 still behaving itself with new battery. And there was me thinking it was powered by the mains ;-)
