Post by papaoskar »

Since several days I try to update my system X1000 4.1 Final.
It allways stops with an error!
See the attached screen picture. What to do to solve the Problem?

Went the file download ok? Maybe try to redownload again.
You can try that AmiUpdate doesn't autoinstall and just download, then unpack on RAM (or other place) and try to install just by double click on INSTALLATION icon.

AFAIK 'version.txt' file(s) are in 'AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Update 1/Content/Workbench/Locale/Catalogs/<language>'

Thank you for your reply.
Tried that one, same fault with version text.
Wonder how to stop the autoinstallation. Where does amiupdate store the big download of about 24 MB? Can't find it.

maybe you can try this.
before installing it with amiupdate open a shell and type this:

Code: Select all

protect SYS:Locale/Catalogs/#?/version?txt +drw
of course you must have booted from the partition you're trying to install to.
don't know if this helps. if not you may just delete these files before installation:

Code: Select all

delete SYS:Locale/Catalogs/#?/version?txt
regards...

Check AmiUpdate_Prefs and in AmiUpdate check 'Settings' menu options there you should have 'Autoinstall package' enabled (disable to not autointall)

Now I disabled Autostart I could detect some files Version.txt and delete them.
Happily I Started from the install icon the installation process. Went through until it found another "version.txt". Then I started copying manually but another folder had a "version.txt" string. The copying stopped again with total crash.
Reboot and start amiupdate showed no files to update.
Now I have partly installed update 1 ?
