Hello all! Just joined the party and introducing myself. Been keeping up with the progress of the AmigaOne x1000 and now am a proud owner. Love it. My first Amiga, the A500 with A590 was purchased 24 years ago and is still going. What better way to celebrate the 30th Anniversary than to show my support to A-Eon, Hyperion, Varisys, AmigaKit and all of you Developers and Beta Testers by purchasing this fantastic Amiga. AmigaOS 4.1 FE is great! I can't wait to see the future of this and what AmigaOS 4.2 has in store. What better platform to use than PPC? Can anybody say, Shape Shifter? I knew you could. We are back. After using Windows anchored PC's and a new Mac, I am happy to finally be home to a New Amiga! Cheers and hats off to all!

John Dupuis ( New AmigaOne x1000 owner )

Sounded corny, but, hey, what can I say!

John, welcome to the X1000 and AmigaOS 4.1 club! My story is similar to yours, and I have been enjoying my X1000 for a couple of fun years now. Congratulations, and good luck with all. Don't hestitate to sing out with any questions -- plenty of good people to offer help/advice/suggestions.

Thank you as well. I will ask here for help when needed. So far I'm really enjoying it. Several years ago I decided to add the A3640 to my A3000 desktop. Oh what a joy to make that work! MOTOROLLIN'! Installed OS 3.9 and added an External SCSI Hard Drive and CD-R. Cool. No internet or graphics card. Needless to say, I'm diggin' the AmigaOne x1000, big time. I'm right at home. You all on this Forum are very patient. Even though I'm not new, I realize I am to the AmigaOne. So I've made backups in case I make an Ooops. Being able to download on the Amiga, some take for granted. Me. I'm like a kid in a candy store trying to contain myself. 1 TB hard drive, on an Amiga? Seriously? I'm hoding back trying not to get out of hand. Thanks again.

I recommend at least trying to take small steps, enjoying each one fully. Otherwise you'll quickly end up at the other end where you can't wait until the next fancy thing is released to upgrade to.

I'm pretty much out there myself. Six NG Amigas - all networked and online through my LAN - from an A1200 with BPPC/BVision over a couple of A1s and a couple of Sams to the X1000. The latter has a 30" monitor running in 2560×1600 and five hard drives with a total storage space of 8 TB (about half of which for backup/mirroring). I have so far been able to restrain myself from getting the X5000 by convincing myself I will wait until the most powerful model is in sight :-D. We'll see ...

I'm still enjoying it all.

So as you can see, there's no reason to get bored any time soon, as long as you don't rush into it all.

Best regards,

Niels

Thanks Niels.
Just put up my avatar updated. Finding out what's new in AmigaOS 4.1 FE Workbench. No rush. I see behind the GUI that 4.1 has all the fixin's for a very awesome 4.2. I have installed an 80 GB IDE and used an External USB 2.0 Floppy Drive. Too bad the floppy drive is 1.44 mb. However, downloading and burning to disc will be what the Doctor ordered for my A3000 and prove beneficial for my A500 as well.
Finding Odyssey to be very good for this kind of thing and surfing. Going to play around with Timberwolf and see what it's all about. I have Linux blood in me. Just enjoying AOS too much to sit down and install Ubuntu Remix. Cheers!

Welcome to the world of x1000 :)

I myself had all from a500/a600/1200/A1200PT/A4000/A4000PT/AmigaOneG4Xe and latest X1000 (PT=Elbox power tower).
I have always been a one computer at a time, so now only x1000. However i do have an laptop for windows. Took me many years to get my first pc :) You realize stuff takes time on the amiga so instead of waiting i got myself a laptop. Better then complaining we dont have this, that, this have to be updated etc. Just run the windows machine and if something comes for amigaos.... fine :) Now with warp3d i feel more complete and less things to complain about.

Enjoy your new x1000 :D

Thank you!
I been enjoying the AmigaOne x1000! It's nice to enjoy all the hard work from the Developers, Betatesters and Users over the time it took to get it where it is now. If I could have Open Office on AmigaOS 4.1 FE, I would not have to use Mac OS X or Windows. I believe, all in good time. The Amiga did not come all this way and outlasted all of the computers of it's era by pure luck or magic. Can you believe? A 30 year old computer technology sustained itself by the users and supported by others into the 21st century! Amazing, my friend! I am really impressed with the Emulation as well. Thanks and glad to be a part of the Amiga Community. Cheers! :D

Greetings from me too, always nice to see more users appear!

I'm a bit like nbache, a couple of machines to boot, always handy in those sticky situations ;)
