- first USB Stick didn't work at all
- second USB Stick (SandiskCruzer) worked quiet well, however the first installation didn't work
- third USB Stick (older SandiskCruzer) worked, an installation went well
- my second try was on an ext4 Partition, whereas my first try was on an ext3 partition
However, this is what I like:
- more userfriendly / understandable GUI
- With Ubuntu/KDE Desktop, Menus and Windowresizing/-dragging are far more responsive than on MintPPC
this is what I donnot like:
- crashes quiet often, when trying to play mp3 using standard Kubuntu Player (cannot remember name, posting this from AOS)
- DVD Playback doesn't work at all with inbuild player / Xineplayer will give best results, but DVD Playback was better on MintPPC
- no sound, had to fiddle around with soundprefs in order to bring sound to the FC soundcard / only right channel works
I'll try installing MintPPC again plus KDE Desktop, someone an idea how to install KDE ontop of MintPPC (maybe even an older version of KDE might be good).
I had a lot chrash in the beginning, but after a lot of update, I will call my Ubuntu / gnome for quite stable.
I only use ext4 Partitions.
I have also had problems with some usbdisk, but simply try some others.
I find the guide very explanatory and user friendly so it's probably a matter of taste.
Mint PPC is just the latest versions, of debian with a mintppc overlay on top.
I would suggest you to install the latest debian and then install synaptic and choose kde to Installation
I have no problem with sound. Have you checked that your user is a member of the audio group?
Good luck
