Mate 1.8.1 (Gnome 2 fork) was released for Debian Sid PPC.

Ubuntu MATE is available for our AMIGA one X1000.

Download link, kernel required in the CF card, CFE command to boot initrd,etc.

Maybe that I will be more lucky than with the previous 14.10

Unfortunately you need an installed (L)ubuntu 14.10 for Ubuntu MATE If you have an installed (L)ubuntu 14.10 then you can install the MATE packages with apt-get or something like this. For the Ubuntu-MATE splash screen, artwork, icons, and themes you have to add the Ubuntu MATE PPA to the sources.list.

Hey Xeno.

The linked Iso is not installable.
The installation aborts with: disk detection failure.
I used a separate disk.

The only option is to install LUbuntu and then the MATE Desktop?
