Yes, it works well. I just got to tinker.

Re: Kernel 4.1
Rebuilt 4.1.29 and included SECCOMP with no ill effects to anything else. Yes, I did leave EMBEDDED option on.
Of course I'm not messing with Ububtu 16.04 so this is just FYI.

Edit:
P.S.
I had a HD going wonkie (sdc) and replaced it with a 1TB drive. Since I was only going to use it for tinkering with Linux I thought it might be nice to be able to use for more than 2, 3, 4 distros. So I partitioned it with Amiga HDtoolbox into 8 sections.
A small 4GB to be FAT32 formatted for kernel storage, another 2GB to be used for swap and 6 sections for various distros.
Since our Linux kernels can read RDB formatted drives I did not format the sections under AmigaOS but rather booted up Mintppc (sdb) and did the ext4, fat32, and swap formatting that way.
Just to show that I have too much time on my hands I went ahead and installed Mint_11, Debian_7,8,and 9 on the new drive. All up and working.
Much thanks to Julian for the Northern Islands ramdisk. It works super for installing Debian 9, and 8.

I rebuilt the kernel 4.1.29 including SECCOMP support yesterday but unfortunately it doesn't work with the systemd on ubuntu MATE 16.10.

Re: Kernel 4.1
That is disappointing.
I used gcc-4.9.2-10 (Deb-8) and it works on Deb stretch no problem even though stretch was built with gcc-5.4.
I'm also running LXDE. I did not install the full Gnome suite.

Re: Kernel 4.1
Hi All,
Great news! The developers fixed the problem with systemd. It is no longer necessary to compile a kernel with SECCOMP support. I was able to boot ubuntu MATE 16.10 PowerPC with the stable longterm kernel 4.1.30 today.
Cheers,
Christian

Re: Kernel 4.1
Hi All,
I successfully updated ubuntu MATE 16.10 on my X1000 today. Additionally I updated ViewTube in Firefox. Xorg works without any problems. I tested it with the RC4-2 of kernel 4.8.
Additionally I successfully tested ubuntu MATE 16.10 with the stable kernel 4.7.2.
qemu-system-i386 version 2.6.0 also works on ubuntu MATE 16.10. I tested it with Slackware 94 today.
But ... with the stable longterm kernel 4.1.31 I have some problems after the update. There was a systemd update. Unfortunately the SECCOMP spawning problem is back.
That means, you can't use ubuntu MATE 16.10 with the stable longterm kernel currently. Please use the stable kernel 4.7-2 instead.
Thanks,
Christian
