ubuntu and new X1000

Post by ed7063 »

I bought the X1000 with all the upgrades except a black case. I want to install Linux but cant. I even bought the brand new DVD but it didn't work. After starting the screen is supposed to go black and installation starts but in my case it stays black and freezes. AmigaKit told me it had something to do with the graphics card. Any one PLEASE know of a workaround to get this thing going or know where to send me for the help i need????

I'm sorry it's not possible to boot the A-EON Live Remix DVD with your Radeon HD R7 250X currently. The workaround is to buy a AMD Radeon HD6870 for Linux PPC.

Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering.

Tel us exactly what you are doing, and what you see on screen. The DVD is a live DVD, and does not directly install.

You should see:
Some text printed, including the ramdisk and kernel being loaded,
Once started, you'll see the purple Ubuntu loading screen as the system loads from DVD (this take quite a while)

F.Y.I on my HD7750 the loading screen disappears but the desktop doesn't appear until I hit Ctrl-Alt-F1 then Ctrl-Alt-F7.

I'm sure I've booted a DVD with this card installed, I'll have a dig around with old kernels and see If I can find one.

It is the live CD from Amigakit. I am being told the DVD wont work with this card but a fix may be coming soon. I'm not sure about all the kernel stuff, all the different commands to get something up and running. Linux is NOT my forte. Is there someplace that has a complete step by step for beginners?

The only place I can think of to look is Epsilons blog: http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2014/ ... art-1.html

As to step by step guide, all the instructions you need to boot the disk should have been supplied on a sheet of paper with it.

We want to help, but we need to know WHERE and HOW it is not working for you!
