Another screenshot done on my X1000 running Mint_11 ppc.
This time it's my BeagleBone in a VNC window running a Chromium browser on Youtube.
Although it works this way it is slooow since the VNC and the video are all on the same network cable.

I can also connect a webcam to the BeagleBone USB and then send the video over the Ethernet to the X1000 for viewing.

Fun with computers.

The 3.18.27 source code has been updated to 3.18.28.

I applied the -28 patch and rebuilt the kernel without problems. There were only a few sections of the patch that applied to our X1000's especially to do with hda_sound.

It works. :)

Thank you. Good to know. Could you please upload the kernel 3.18.28?

I could but I don't think you would want it because it is stripped down, gutted, and only contains what hardware is on my X1000.

It is just the standard 3.18.28 source and if you would like to build one with your config file I'm sure more people could use it.

Or I could build one with my system (gcc-4.6/7) using your config, test it, and then upload it. Just let me know which hardware would have to be built-in, like network drivers.

I tried building it with gcc-5.3 and that was a disaster.

Debian has upgraded their 7 series kernel from 7.9 to 7.10. Kernel 3.18 also recieved a boost to 3.18.30.

I built the new kernel and it runs everything on Deb-7.10 (Mintppc) without problem. :D

3.18.32

The 3.18 kernel has again been updated to 3.18.32.

This update has about 24 back ports, fixes, and revised patches that directly pertain to our X1000. Not just the kernel but also how the software and devices will interact with the kernel.

I have built the new source code using the same configuration and firmware makefile used for my 3.18.28 version and this new kernel just runs better, not necessarily faster, just better. For example, SuperTuxCart 3D displays more 3D effects and now Iceweasel (mozilla ppc) displays YouTube vids in full screen.

Everything else works great as usual. :-)
