sdb is my Unallocated SATA. Perfect! On my off-days Tomorrow and Monday, I'll take it for spin! Let you know how it works out. :)
Haven't had the courage to modify my CFE Menu yet. Still have the original unmodified SATA with AmigaKit's AOS4.1FE install used for initial setup unplugged and always on stand-by. That's my security blanket in case I have to pull myself out of a jam. It works! ;)

Cheers!!

John
Good luck! I am looking forward to your results.

zeno74 my Linux Guru friend, Ubuntu Mate 16.04 is awesome!! :)
12.04.05 and now Mate 16.04! Ubuntu Mate is snappy! I'm using vmlinux-4.1.20. Makes things easier on me switching between the two.

Cheers!!

BTW - '[Fail} Kernel Modules' during Boot Up. What needs to be copied over or loaded?

Hi Jdupuis,

Fantastic results! Well done! Please look in the thread (X)(L)ubuntu (MATE) 16.04 LTS because of the kernel modules issue.

Have a lot of fun with ubuntu MATE 16.04 PowerPC! :-)

Cheers,

Christian

Hi xeno74!

Read the Thread. Understand.
One more issue I ran into in Ubuntu Mate. I installed SuperTux Cart via the Software Installer. It loads up and get to the part where you choose cart then goes to black screen. Lock up. Just wondering.
I'm okay with the install method - makes it easy. Would love to see an installer on the level of 12.04.
I am having fun! :)

Cheers!!

Unfortunately the latest SuperTuxKart doesn't work. Please try the following version:

supertuxkart-0.8.1-3-altivec-linux-glibc2.13-ppc.tar.gz

Thank you. Mate is running well. Followed your previous page 9 instruction for SMTube. Two fully functional Linux installs on the X1000! Nice! Had to reinstall this morning, though. Can't get rid of the sdb1 FAT16 partition or delete the files! Bad move on my part. The next install went smoother and when I deleted the AmigaOne user after creating my Admin User I chose to keep the files from AmigaOne User as well. Running much nicer. Stable 4.1.20 kernal working quite well. The AMIGAONE partition shows up on Workbench. It's only 100 mb but could be useful for kernel tar ball downloads while in AOS besides the CF Card. Rockin' n Rollin' :D

Cheers!!

Fantastic! Have you already tested SuperTuxKart 0.8.1-3? Decompress the package and execute ./run_game.sh.

Whaat!? Who has time for games? I'm diggin' the SMTube Browser!! :D I'll try to remember to unpack it today or tomorrow. Unpack in "etc" directory, correct? So the TuxCart shows in the "Games" desktop pull down menu? Anyway, I'm loving Ubuntu Mate and 12.04.05 LTS. Now I just need to know the secret handshake and go through the hazing to get an X5000!! ;) I'll test out SuperTuxKart and report. Thanks xeno!

I recommend to unpack it in your home folder. After that, you can start it with

Code: Select all

./run_game.sh
Have a lot of fun! :-)

Hi Christian!

SuperTuxKart (older) runs great! :)
> bigger issue:
Ubuntu Mate 16.04 Firefox/YouTube in Fullscreen runs horrible! Video slows and pixels, same with SMTube Browser in Fullscreen. This is not the case with 12.04.05 LTS. What have I missed in the Graphics Config?
glxgears are 300 frames in 5.0 secs = 56.906 FPS hmm! Kinda slow.
By way of comparison Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS glxgears are 5424 frames in 5.0 secs = 1084.644 FPS

Thanks,

John
