SuperTuxKart (older) runs great!
> bigger issue:
Ubuntu Mate 16.04 Firefox/YouTube in Fullscreen runs horrible! Video slows and pixels, same with SMTube Browser in Fullscreen. This is not the case with 12.04.05 LTS. What have I missed in the Graphics Config?
glxgears are 300 frames in 5.0 secs = 56.906 FPS hmm! Kinda slow.
By way of comparison Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS glxgears are 5424 frames in 5.0 secs = 1084.644 FPS
Thanks,
John
Hi John,
Thanks a lot for testing. Did you install the unofficial Mesa on ubuntu MATE 16.04?
Why would I do something like that?
I'll give it an install this afternoon after work. Thanks for instructions. Let you know how it turns out this evening.
Cheers!!

Hi John,
Thanks a lot for testing. Did you install the unofficial Mesa on ubuntu MATE 16.04?
You need the unofficial Mesa to get hardware 3D acceleration on ubuntu MATE 16.04.
I recommend the unofficial Mesa version 10.0.4.
Cheers,
Christian
Hi Christian!
In fullscreen YouTube and SMPlayer the picture still is pixeling and freezing. I followed the instructions for r600_dr.so and zappa's xorg.config. Still the same. The new SuperTuxKart does not render a black picture and lock up. Remember, I went back to my 6670 HD GPU. Anyway, I renamed all of the original files with a ".bak" suffix. I can change back if I care to. Obviously did not make an impact.
So to sum up:
YouTube Browser for SMPlayer is fine as long as I do not click fullscreen. In Firefox, YouTube is fine as long as fullscreen is not selected as well.
>vblank=0 glxgears renders 1460 frames in 5.0 secs = 291.873 FPS after Mesa 10.0.4 and Zappa's xorg. Switching back to original files still the same.
Looks like Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS got this (MATE) beat on my X1000 for now.
Cheers!!

John,
Many thanks for testing. Interesting results.

Christian,
I have a long-term plan to get a Radeon HD 6850 GPU. I believe this will produce better results with Kernels 4.1.21 and higher. I still have the R7 250X, however, I am not satisfied with it's erratic performance trying to boot up Linux Kernels. So, my XFX Radeon HD 6670 wins!
I think I can safely say Ubuntu 12.04.05 is fine with kernal 4.1 long-term. I'll try ubuntu Mate 16.04 with kernel 4.6 and see how that goes at some point during the end of week. I'll post my result in New Topic. This Topic, is solved. Kernel 4.1 Long-Term, for me, produces satisfying results for Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS. ViewTube, k3b, kaffeine and Gparted installed. All running well. Mate is running but maybe some more tweaks Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS and Kernel 4.6 [SOLVED]
Cheers!!

Hi John,
I am looking for someone who can test the cross compiled RC3 of kernel 4.6 with a Radeon HD7xxx or newer. I cross compiled this kernel on a x86_64 machine and I am not sure if the integrated firmwares work with some Radeon HD7XXX or newer graphics cards.
Could you please test the RC3 with your R7 250X?

Hi Christian!
Oh sure! Now you ask after I have my system settled down with the 6670! Not a problem! Give me today after work to config my X1000 down to 1 SATA and the R7 250X. I'll leave AOS drives and my working 12.04 out (unplugged). This afternoon I'll download 4.6 rc3 and have ready on the CF Card and a USB stick and go from there. If that sounds okay?
Cheers!!

Hi John,
Many thanks for your offer to test the RC3 with your R7 250X. I am looking forward to your test results. I just want to be sure that the integrated firmwares are working.

Christian,
No sweat! I'll have a working Ubuntu 12.04 install on the SATA with 4.1 stable. Am I going to test the Ubuntu DVD with the 4.6 kernel as well? <Or> Working Ubuntu Mate installed on HD only? I'm sure at some point Ubuntu 12.04.05 has to be tested, correct? Just want to make sure I have the right test bed for your 4.6 compile. You have a nice day as well.
Cheers!!
