It boots. I can log in to XFCE. However, nothing video related works on Debian 8.

It came up fine with my MATE. The initial screen of "doing-such-and-suches" had about a dozen messages I haven't seen before, above those; I failed to take notes on what they said (pretty much all the same thing, I think).

I put the whole vmlinux-4.7-rc3-AmigaONE_X1000 in the CF CARD, and copied vmlinux-4.7 out of that folder to make it available to CFE commands. I suppose that means I am still using 4.1 modules for this trial? Or maybe not! I thought I had put the modules for 4.1 in /et/modules, but that is apparently empty at present!

Anyway, I don't see any difference from the 4.1 I usually boot with.

It's good to know that it boots with ubuntu MATE. Thanks a lot for testing.

If you boot with the RC3 of kernel 4.7 then the kernel 4.1 modules aren't active.

You can copy the kernel 4.7-rc3 modules directory to /lib/modules if you like.

I trust that means copying 4.7.0-rc3_A-EON_AmigaONE_X1000_NEMO-00013-g9da3394-dirty? I haven't rebooted since to see whether anything is different.

I'd like to test 3D acceleration, but google doesn't help when I ask it how to do it. Hint? Maybe when I try to play SuperTuxKart and the screen goes black but the music plays forever, that means I can't accelerate in 3D? I haven't tried that game with 4.7 yet, but that's what I get with kernel 4.1.

By the way, yesterday I mentioned some new failure messages while booting kernel 4.7. Essentially the same messages show up in kern.log. Of course, I have no idea whether they mean anything or not:

Hi Kilaueabart,

It's normal. It spits this error for old DTs, but keeps doing the right thing. The developers are not sure if they should downgrade this to info or dbg.

By the way, you can look if 3D acceleration is available with the following command:

Code: Select all

glxinfo | grep -i opengl
Cheers,

With the RC3 we have the opportunity, to use new exciting features like the new DRM 2.45.0 on our Nemo board.

Please test the 3D acceleration with the new DRM 2.45.0.

Thanks.
If I get a read-out (14 lines; the last one reads "ES profile extensions:") can I assume I have 3D acceleration no matter what the lines say? What is the difference between having it and not having it? Maybe if I knew what DRM 2.45.0 means I could find out?
