Hi All,
I compiled the new
stable longterm kernel
4.9.16 including the new
BFQ I/O scheduler yesterday.
BFQ loads programs extremely fast under heavy disk I/O activity. It achieves up to 30% higher throughput than CFQ on hard disks with most parallel workloads, and about the same throughput with the rest of the workloads we have considered. BFQ achieves the same throughput as CFQ, NOOP, DEADLINE and SIO on SSDs.

Download:
vmlinux-4.9.16-AmigaONE_X1000.tar.gz
BTW, I was able to update
Fedora 25 Server PPC64 today.

4.9.16:

Started ubuntu remix with a 4.9.1 kernel instead

Hi Musa,
Many thanks for testing the test version 0.3 of the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017 and thanks a lot for testing the stable longterm kernel 4.9.16.
Have you seen the error message above in the CFE firmware or have you seen it inside the kernel boot messages? Could you please test the
stable kernel
4.10.5 as well?
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Hi Christian
The error is in CFE.
Have tried booting ubuntu-mate-remix with vmlinux-9.4.16 and 4.10.5 .I get both: not an elf format executable or hold entries should > = 2.
I try to format my cf0: Disc same result and have tried putting the two files on a USB disk but same result.
My other Kernels on cf0: works

Hi Musa
Thanks for testing. We had the same problem in 2014.

SOLVED: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS : kernel boot problem
Could you please test the stable longterm kernel
4.9.15 as well? This kernel doesn't have the
BFQ I/O scheduler integrated.
Thanks
Christian

Hi Christian.
Thanks for info
The problem was Fat 32. reformatted to Fat 16 and all Kernler works.
It will be good if you include Gparted in the next Ubuntu-mate remix. It is important. I installed it from debian sid and it works ok.

@Musa
I have recently added GParted 0.25.0 to the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017.

Hi
Thanks for adding GParted. I have 2 wishes more. Rawtherapee and shotwell. with Gimp and these two programs is it possible to make serious photo work on Ubuntu-Mate remix
Unfortunately I have to format cf0 with fat 32 again as the workbench will not start with fat16 on cf0. I get this error: volume has broken clustergeometry cant mount it. Then Workbench freez.
This mean that I cant use many of the new kernels.

Edit: I do not know why but now works 4.10.5 and 9.4.16 on cf0 with fat 32 and workbench boot again
