A last wish Christian
If it is possible. It will be great with a web server that works. Apache, sql mysql php phpmyadmin. At ubuntu 16.04 it does not work and Fedora has is not a full web server.(Php-mysql is missing)
On the AmigaOs side we have one but it has only php 5.2 so it would be a great help to us who make websites.
Thanks

Hi Musa,

Many thanks for testing! :-)

No, I didn't install a web server. I will add it to the version 0.6.

Chris, thanks for the hard work, but I see a little easiness we had back in the days with 6870 and 3.x kernels.
(I have upgraded to 7000HD 2GB, x1000 with SSD and 4GB).

I hope you could turn this 2017 Remix to a real boot CD and that BE issue with 3D can be done.
Similar Fedora 64 image would help.

(similar but longer exponations, copy-pasted)

I have purchased Radeon 7000HD for w3d on AmigaOS. But compared to 6870 life in Linux sucks - many installers dont work anymore (install but fail at loading the login and gui). http://www.amigaforum.de/index.php?topi ... sg1338#new
is there any netisntaller or specfic kernels and CFE settings I need to do (or DD install instructions, but please provide uncompressed or TAR compressed DD image and clear instructions to rsync or DD from USB0: to SDB5
I see no specific SI installers on Amigax1000 Linux page

Its bz2 I have trouble extracting and default archiver cant do it. Can you please upload clean or TAR compressed image and some clean instruction how to DD or Rsync? Also creating a boot CD/DVD with image and scripts (like Live DVD or Ubuntu Remix 12) would be helpful as that is quite ... pain in the ass operation to do.

Sadly USB on x1000 is too slow for use, and I have an SSD and I want a SDB5 copy.

Also, since PPC32/64BE is completely EOL and X1000 and x5000 (and G5?) are bi-endian, when we will have a good LE kernel and would that solve SI problem (that I will have even with the Remix)

Installation instructions for the version 0.5 of the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017.

Download: http://www.xenosoft.de/MATE_PowerPC_Rem ... mg.tar.bz2

You only need to copy the image with 'dd' to a partition on your USB flash drive.

Create two partitions on your USB flash drive. A small FAT16 boot partition and a big partition without a file system. Copy the Linux kernel to the first small FAT16 boot partition. After that copy the MATE PowerPC Remix img with 'dd' to the second big partition.

For example the partition /dev/sdd2 on a USB flash drive:

Code: Select all

sudo dd if=MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.5.img of=/dev/sdd2
You can boot it with the following commands (for example from /dev/sdd2):

Code: Select all

setenv bootargs "root=/dev/sdd2 rootdelay=5"

Code: Select all

boot -elf -noints -fatfs usbdisk0:vmlinux-4.9

Can you provide a DD example, it was ages ago in past installs where instructions were.
And please hdd instruction, usb on x1000 isnt that fast, especially compared to an SSD :-)

Code: Select all

sudo dd if=MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.5.img of=/dev/sdd2
I have trouble unbzipping it, where can I get clean .img or tarred (.tar.bz2 doesnt work for me). Kernel 4.9 I suppose its 4.9 Final http://www.xenosoft.de/vmlinux-4.9-Amig ... 000.tar.gz and please put links to http://www.supertuxkart-amiga.de/amiga/x1000.html

LiveDVD if possible, would be best as it wouldnt require previous Linux install and essentially keeping two linuxes (see bootdvd batch and kernel on Ubuntu Remix DVD). Thanks anyway, but I hope you agree with suggestions and that they are doable.
Not today, when you can.

PLEASE :-)

Also, is it doable to have LE kernel and boot newer LE netinstalls PPC64 surely?
With no Altivec, I read it is so with Power8 PPC64 way its done. This would bring
new Debian and many distros "back in game"

Small donation offered. Or bounty at Power2People.
I hope SI glitch on 3D isnt there too.

Hi Vox,
vox wrote: Can you provide a DD example, it was ages ago in past installs where instructions were.

Code: Select all

sudo dd if=MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.5.img of=/dev/sdd2

From a booted USB flash drive to /dev/sdb7 for example:

Code: Select all

sudo dd if=MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.5.img of=/dev/sdb7
USB isn't slow. You only need a fast USB flash drive. I would recommend you to buy the SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.0 Flash Drive.
vox wrote: I have trouble unbzipping it, where can I get clean .img or tarred (.tar.bz2 doesnt work for me).
Sorry, only tar.bz2 is available currently. Please try to extract it with the following command:

Code: Select all

tar jxvf MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.5.img.tar.bz2
Caseycullen and Musa extracted the tar.bz2 img without any problems. Please check your system.

There are links to the Linux kernels available on http://www.supertuxkart-amiga.de/amiga/x1000.html. Please look here for the stable longterm kernel 4.9: http://www.supertuxkart-amiga.de/amiga/kernel49.html
vox wrote: LiveDVD if possible, would be best as it wouldnt require previous Linux install and essentially keeping two linuxes (see bootdvd batch and kernel on Ubuntu Remix DVD).
LiveUSB is the same. You can also create a MATE PowerPC Remix 2017 USB flash drive on Windows or on macOS. It's very easy and better as burning a DVD.

But ..... you can try the ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS Live DVD if you like. :-)

Download: ubuntu-mate-16.04.1-desktop-powerpc-x1000-3.iso

You can boot the DVD with the following commands:

Code: Select all

CFE> ramdisk -addr=0x24000000 -fs=iso atapi0.1:casper/powerpc64/initrd.

Code: Select all

CFE> setenv bootargs "root=/dev/ramdisk file=/cdrom/preseed/ubuntu-mate.seed boot=casper quiet ro splash --"

Code: Select all

CFE> boot -elf -noints -fs=iso atapi0.1:casper/powerpc64/vmlinux.
Please note: Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering. It's not as easy as OS4.1. You have to learn a lot.

Cheers,
Christian
