Hi All,

The developers of Ubuntu Server have stopped the building of daily build ISOs for PowerPC but I was able to upgrade ubuntu MATE 17.04 PowerPC today.

Link: Ubuntu Server 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) Daily Build

I will upgrade my installed development version of ubuntu MATE 17.04 PowerPC as long as possible. I will try to release the version 0.2 of the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017.

Cheers,
Christian

Hi All,

The developers want to remove the last PowerPC daily builds. I uploaded the last Ubuntu Server 17.04 PowerPC daily build ISO to my web space today.

Download: Ubuntu_Server_17.04_2017-02-22-powerpc.iso

I uploaded the last ubuntu MATE 17.04 PowerPC daily build ISO and the last Lubuntu 17.04 PowerPC daily build ISO to my web space two weeks ago.

Downloads:

ubuntu_MATE_17.04_2017-02-09-powerpc.iso
Lubuntu_17.04_2017-02-08-powerpc.iso

Christian

Hi All,

The second test version of the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017 is available. :-)

New:
  • Some new wallpapers
  • fbdev is the default Xorg driver now. (You can change it to "radeon" if you like)
  • Firefox 52.0b9
  • Firefox 47 set up in English. (Thanks to Caseycullen)
  • Problem with the language support fixed
  • Many updates from ubuntu MATE 17.04
Download: MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.2.img.tar.bz2

Please note: There isn't a boot partition in this image. You can create an extra boot partition and copy the image to another partiton on your USB flash drive.

Image

Please test it.

Thanks,
Christian

Hi Musa,

Yes, it is possible.

Instructions:
  1. Mount the image: sudo mount MATE_PowerPC_Remix_2017_0.2.img /mnt
  2. Create a new partition and mount it to /media.
  3. Copy with rsync the files from the image to the new empty partition: sudo rsync --stats --progress --numeric-ids -axAhHSP /mnt /media
Please try it.

Thanks,
Christian

Ok ubuntu remix installed. Booted with Ubuntu 4.9.1 and except for some error messages from compiz, everything ran fine. Installed the programs I need without problems.
