failing repositories

Post by kilaueabart »

Recently when I run Ubuntu 16.04.1 sooner or later a little red triangle containing a red "!" shows up in the upper right screen margin. When I click on it, a little window comes up, containing this:

Code: Select all

The update information is outdated. This
may be caused by network problems or by a
repository that is no longer available.
Please update manually by selecting 'Show
updates' from the indicator menu, and
watching for any failing repositories.

Show updates
Install all updates
Check for updates
Start package manager

Show notifications
Preferences [with a wrench and screwdriver icon on left]
When I select 'Show updates' I am informed that my software is up to date. So I guess I either have a network problem or a failing repository. How can I find out if I have a failing repository? What is a failing repository?

The answer if probably to be found in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories/Ubuntu, but that's all over my head.

Please run sudo apt-get update in the terminal.

Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering.
