Network Preference with Security?

How about turning that Network Startup Sequence into a Network Preference instead? Here you can easily set up the programs that usually would have to get their network connection commanded through the Network Startup Sequence, but here it could appear in an own Network Preference, with the same idea of the WBStartup Preference, but in this case for applications that rely on the Network Startup Sequence.

Also was thinking of security. It would be nice to see this Network Preference with both security and Cloud protection, as you never known when Amiga could be hacked or infiltrated. Are there plans for such function?

Could also be nice to have antivirus protection as well. Not sure how these things will be addressed in AmigaOS4.

That's all i wonder.

We already have Internet Prefs, set the router up for security, use a browser to do that.

I know of these. They are the simple way of doing it.

Still, we would need an internet software security settings to protect the Amiga from modern hacker attacks that happen nowaydays, mostly on Windows system.
There is no quarantee that the Amiga won't be hacked or not. I like to be prepared, as technology is getting more and more advanced, and the Amiga will need to adopt new features as we are moving forward as well. As we have the Internet Prefs, as you say, this one could be extended to incorporate better security and more straightforward, simple setup of different network configurations. Why complicate things when the whole point is to make it as easy and straightforward as possible? :)

You wont get it easier than that

I hate to break this to you but there is no hacker security on AmigaOS. The only way to secure your system from hackers would be to unplug it from the Internet.

The good news is that nobody cares enough to write Amiga viruses or hack an Amiga system these days. There really is no challenge in it. If somebody said they hacked a bunch of Amigas they would not get any street cred.

We will of course try to make any new features "secure" to a point but that will probably manifest in the form of a user name and password. In other words, we won't purposely make insecure software. In a single-user system with a shared memory model you just can't expect too much.
