@Spectre660

I finally managed to install Lubuntu 12.04 on my Sam460 with RadeonHD 4650 using your ISO and indeed worked!
It is really great that I end up with a 12.04 directly without updating from 10.04 as I did before!!

Also tried all of your frame buffer kernels and worked as expected.

I then tried my kernel 3.4.24 I compiled with DRM enabled and it worked too but having 2D hardware acceleration does feels much more responsive.
When it boots it has a freeze for a minute or two (without any message nor kernel panic) then it continue just fine.

I know you already tried once, but can you please try it out once more just to be really sure it doesn't work for you?

Here the kernel serial port output:

@Spectre660

Just managed to compile the latest 3.4.x series kernel (3.4.75) with drm.
For this one I've mixed your kernel configuration and mine and it does not freeze anymore while booting:
http://www.locati.it/mario/sam460/squee ... drm.tar.gz

here the serial port of the kernel:
http://www.locati.it/mario/sam460/squee ... rm_log.txt

The only remaining issue is that the Envy24ht pci-e sound card does not play any sound, but apparently all drivers are loaded correctly.
I would don't care too much for a 13.10 or newer release, as with the CPU we got there not much we can achieve, the 12.04 is more than enough, at least for me.

On Sam440 did you manage to have a 13.10 with 2D hardware acceleration?
If so, which video card supports the hardware acceleration? The Radeon HD 4xxx or the soldered Radeon M9?

Supports Radeon HD cards up to HD4000 series and the console output via the Sam460ex onboard graphics card.
This one allows you to install Ubuntu using the onboard sm502 graphics card so you dont need a second computer or serial cable .(There is also the option to do it this way too)
So plug your monitor in to the onboard VGA connector and boot the CD or use two monitors .
If you only have one monitor once the installation is done reconnect it to the Radeon HD video card output .

Running Linux on AmigaONEs can require some tinkering.

That is great! Thank you!!
Can you please explain how did you obtain the redirection of the console text to the SM501 driver at boot time?

Just would like to mention that I've recompiled the kernel 3.4.75 with:
- hardware watchdog timer enabled (see http://www.icbase.com/pdf/IBM/IBM03310107.pdf);
- much more USB peripherals drivers;
- SM501 drivers (multimedia support and framebuffer)

The new kernel has the same address as before:
