This is a light version of Ubuntu and runs very well on a Sam40ep.
This Sam440ep boot ISO just boots the Sam440ep installation .
You can also boot the installation from hard drive by making a small bootable SFS/00 partition of about 2GB and copying
the contents of the Sam440ep boot ISO to it .
Once you reboot your Sam you will see the Option to Install Lubuntu as an item in the boot menu.
With both methods You also need to download a Ubuntu14.04 Alternate installer ISO if you have not done so already . See down load link below .
Once the Install menu comes up remove the boot CD and replace it with the Ubuntu14.04 Alternate installer CD
This method saves time and bandwidth if you end up doing multiple installs like me.
At the partitioning menu you must chose to unmount the mounted partitions when asked.
Select the option for Ubuntu Desktop when you reach the menu for software to install.
Once The installation is done and you reboot into it you can ad more apps like Libreoffice etc.

@ Spectre660

Have a Sam flex R9250 with Lenny installed.

Wish to upgrade to Wheezy

Is it necessary to upgrade to Squeeze first. No doubt I will have more questions, a novice

Is an upgrade possible rather than a complete new install.

Best Regards

It is possible to have multiple Linux installations if you have enough space available on your hard drive.
The safest way to set this up is to use a bootable SFS/00 partition to boot the kernel as the location
of the linux partition changes as you add more partitons to the hard drive.
all you need on the SFS/00 partition is a menu list file and the kernel.
The modules for this kernel need to be on the Linux partition in /libs/modules/.
once you boot ok you can modify the menu.lst file on the linux /boot partition to point to the correct linux partition
so that you can use the boot menu on the linux boot partition instead of the SFS/00 one .

An option worthy of consideration.

Need to re-read a number of times what you have written to ensure that I understand how I would proceed.

@ Spectre660

A query on reading this tread.

It mentions creating two partitions,

1. SFS/00 with the name "boot" 2GB
2. A second 20 GB partition (does this require a name)

A quote from the install guide on your Wheezy iso

"Otherwise, you need to setup your hard disk creating/moving partitions in order to make enough room for Linux. Be
careful! Changing you partitions details will destroy ALL YOUR DATA. Please, use programs like Directory Opus to backup
and organize your files."

My question being that the above mentioned two partitions can only be created with the backup of ALL existing partitions first.

I ask, just to be sure.

Best Regards
