Thanks for testing .

The installer needs the certain modules embedded in the ramdisk. So it wont work properly with another kernel version.
I will try to do a new Sam460ex iso for netinstall soon. may include the DVD install option on the same iso too .

4.0.0-a works with my Sam460 + R7 265 + Ubunto 14.04.2 LTS

However when I tried it to use kernel for Debian Jessie install, nothing happens after selecting it from menu.lst
Nothing in serial...

Is this kernel not compatible with install ramdisk ?

@seventhwonder

You can try this netinstall iso (no need to download the Debian Jessie install DVD).

Hi, tested Sam460ex + RadeonHD6570 kernel_4.0.0-a with Debian Jessie, works/boots fine :-)

BTW the radeon fw archive , should I update my debian with such? Or is it integrated on latest kernel 4.0.0-a?

TIA

Thanks for testing.

The updated Radeon Firmware is only required when using the generic version of the kernel for the Southern islands cards.(from kernel 3.17 and up) The other versions have their correct firmware version built in .
The generic kernel is what any new installer will install and the installer will also install the updated firmware
so it should not affect any Sam460ex user .
Someone trying a Southern Islands card on a Sam440ep needs to update the firmware and try either the 3.18.x or 3.19.x or 4.0.0.0 kernel versions. Have not had any feedback on the Sam440ep's and these versions yet though.

You should get beyond that
I just re tested it by burning the .iso to a cd-rw and it boots ok for me (Radeon HD 7750) .
Sounds like either a corrupted download of the .iso or a DVD drive read/write issue.
You have not reached the stage were the graphics card would normally be an issue .
If you have your old card you could try with it to eliminate your new card being an issue though.

Shall I upload it? Or shall I wait because of testing?
