AFAIK if you use latest ISO, you can install Ubunut/Lubuntu/... whatever flavour it lets you the ISO. And from there when your Linux is launched you can add/install (apt-get install lxde-desktop) KDE/LXDE/... whatever X its for powerpc (I use mainly LXDE)
