What is the best Linux OS to run on SAM460? I have been considering using the best possible PPC Linux for SAM460 that has every feature you can expect from Windows. Where i am able to record and play video at full speed in highest possible quality. Where i can use any WIFI-printer to print, fax, scan and copy all in one, where i can surf the net without slowdowns and problems, where i can use a WebCam to Skype with my contacts if i want. The best possible PPC Linux for SAM460 that is both fast, nice-looking and easy to use and run.

Is the best Linux Ubuntu or Debian for SAM460?

"where i can use a WebCam to Skype "

Forget Skype, it is not LinuxPPC compatible :(

I see what you mean. But for all other things would you recommend Ubuntu or Debian?

I can't recommend you something, I have a x1000, not a SAM460.

Perhaps there isn't a recommendation at all, but rather an user experience. I assume you use Ubuntu Linux on your X1000? What is your experience with Ubuntu, if that is the one you use?

AmigaOS 4.1 currently does video playback better than Linux on the Sam460 with the RadeonHD 2.4 driver and Liveforit Mplayer.

It depends on your's taste :-)
But don't expect to be "on-pair" of X86 distros/versions as some drivers are missing on SAM460ex boards (internal audio, 3D depending gfx board IIRC)

Lubunut+Mate_Desktop: http://www.xenosoft.de/Sam_Lubuntu_15.0 ... tall-1.ISO
Devian flavour: http://www.xenosoft.de/Sam_Debian_Jessi ... tall_1.iso

or any of those ISO (most are netinstalls):
http://www.supertuxkart-amiga.de/amiga/ ... #downloads

Right now I'm using (testing) Lubunut+Mate_Desktop on my SAM460ex.

Lubunut Mate you say? Very interesting. I will keep it in mind. I know it is not quite on the pair with Windows or something like that out there, but at least it has printer support and such, which i consider very important, as i am heavily into photo editing and scanning old pictures is a nice thing, too.

Thanks for telling me :) Will check them out :)
