Mechanical keyboard and X5000

Postby Skateman » Wed Oct 17, 2018 9:07 pm

Just wondering if any X5000 users have bought a mechanical keyboard that works on the X5000.

I did some research and found out that:
The Ducky Zero should work.... but is a 2016 model and hard to find.
The Ducky One should work... but with a certain dip switch on the back of the keyboard set to 6 key rollover instead of N key rollover. (this is something i would like to know for sure)
The Rosewill-rk-9000v2 should work (at least i found a post where V1 worked) but has to be shipped overseas to the Netherlands.

Any input would be very welcome.

Thanks

Dave

Yes, I bought a beautiful custom "Amiga-ised"mechanical keyboard from http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/ . Works great. I don't care about roll-over, though. It had to be shipped, and the price was astronomical (US$50).

I have used a Ducky One with my X5000 from the beginning... The rollover dip setting had indeed to be changed, after that it has worked ok. The only problem is that with Linux there seems to be an 'extra' key press created after hardwareboot. That disturbs logging of some distros, you have to input the account or password second time to get through. I have not tested this with other keyboards, so I'am not sure whether the problem is specific to Ducky One.

Thanks for all the input.
The most important thing for me is a good working keyboard within OS4. If i have to do an extra keystroke for linux, i can live with that.

I think you mean $150 ex shipping :-)

Yes, the shipping alone was $US50.

I have found the keyboard with help of "the daddy" Loriano Pagni

A Ducky DK2108SZ with Custom Amiga Keycaps has become the weapon of choice!
