Left out icons won't stay Left out

My new X5000 is working well, but I have a small, but irritating, problem I'm ready to tackle now:

Icons I leave out on Workbench eventually disappear from WB on their own.
eg. If I leave out 5 icons, they stay out the whole session, but after the next boot
a couple will be gone. Another boot and another will be gone. Eventually they will all
be back where they came from.

Seems there must be something I've misconfigured on the system, but I've not found it yet.

Using the icons works well from the WB during the session with no
glitches. Project, tools, drawers all have the same behaviour.

Does not matter if I've dropped them on the WB and snapshotted them there
or have explicitly RB selected "Leave out" to get them to move to WB.

Anyone see anything like this?

Tom

Check the .backdrop file on your various hardisk partitions, this is where the list of left out icons is stored.

Very ocasionally I've seen that file get corrupted, so only the first few icons are found and left out.

Delete the file and releave out all your icons , then seen if that works. If there is consistant problem there could be a bug to be inestigated in more detail.

If the left-out icons are on a JXFS partition, bear in mind they are read-only under FE.

After deleting and re-leaving things seem better behaved.
Before deleting, one of the files somehow had duplicate lines in it, but nothing worse.

All partitions are NGFileSys. I thought maybe it was caching longer and reboots might be leaving
data unwritten (Odyssey under heavy usage). However I can't cause it with the very immediate
power down from the X5000 power button. Funny though that "reboot sync" always puts up
error popups.

Thanks
