Bug fixes for Amiga OS 4.1 FE Prerelease?

Post by Gregor »

When will Hyperion, finally, publish the all bug-fixes made so far for the AmigaOS 4.1 FE Prerelease? Publishing updates for ancient 3.1 while neglecting totally X5000 users who paid around 2000 Eur for their machine is something I do not understand at all!

I have been waiting for a working SCSI module over a year, after the moment one of the developers revealed that module had already been fixed!
If this is a matter of money: Hyperion, please tell your price! How much should I PAY to you to get that fixed Kickstart module in my use?!

Regards,

Gregor

I don't know if this will fix your question.. but

If you register you amigaos 4.1, you can then download the amigaos 4.1 update 1 from the Hyperion site

I did not find there anything else than the original FE Prerelease .iso -file... Are you sure that the update 1 is available also for X5000?

I believe the "prerelease" for X5000 was made after the general Update 1, so it would include that. The "pre-" would be because it is not the final version of the X5000 version of AmigaOS 4.1 FE (some drivers still missing or in unfinished state etc.).

Best regards,

It looks like AEON are going to take over some updates themselves, such as the updated p5020sata.device.

I imagine these updates will be distributed via AEON's own Updater tool (as part of the Enhancer pack), which will further complicate the distribution of updates, and support on this forum.

Hi

I do not see why distributing updates through Updater tool complicates anything. We have made Updater as easy as possible to use, we will continue to listen to feedback and improve it. The latest improvements involve cross linking files for download to wiki.amiga.org so users can read related documentation easily with a few clicks.

Since its launch, we have increasingly many users daily checking it and downloading files so it has been a success. We will continue to meet the demands of the users by developing, beta testing and releasing in a timely way.

To some extent I agree with davyw. Do we report problems/crashes occurring with Format, AmiDVD, Sound datatype, AmiPDF, etc. here in these forums or elsewhere. Things can get more confusing for people like me who don't install all the Enhancer files.

X5000 users paid for an OS4.1FE 'prerelease' (either seperately or as part of the purchase price for an X5000). A 'prerelease' implies that there will be a 'release' which should include the incomplete or missing items. It may not be your fault that things are happening the way they are but I feel that X5000 users are at least entitled to complain about it.
