Hello,
I tested MATE PowerPC Remix 0.7 with kernel 4.13-RC5 and Mesa 17.0.1. I began with kernel 4.12, then upgraded Mesa, then upgraded the kernel.
So far everything seems to be working alright.
Image
Also, if interested, I have made available for download a wallpaper pack featuring MATE PowerPC Remix, including the wallpaper seen in the screenshot, at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B--RJ ... jVrZmM2ZzQ

  1. Code: Select all

    sudo mv /usr/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/dri/r600_dri.so /usr/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/dri/r600_dri.so.bak
  2. Code: Select all

    sudo mv /usr/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1.2.0 /usr/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/mesa/libGL.so.1.2.0.bak
  3. Code: Select all

    sudo cp /usr/local/mesa-17.2.1-without-llvm/lib/dri/r600_dri.so /usr/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/dri/
  4. Code: Select all

    sudo cp /usr/local/mesa-17.2.1-without-llvm/lib/libGL.so.1.2.0 /usr/lib/powerpc-linux-gnu/mesa/

Tested your Mesa 17.2.1 build on my X5000; works nicely. Note average 120 fps increase in glxgears.

Can anyone please test package "funguloids" from Debian Sid? It runs fine for me except background music is static. This occurs for several other games also such as doomsday (but not prboom+), torcs, and oolite. I haven't been able to identify why, or if perhaps it is because I am running sound through my Radeon HDMI.
Any thoughts?

I have tested it on Debian Sid PPC32. It works except the background music. I have to decrease the Music volume to 0%. :-( I think it is an endian issue.

Thanks for checking it out! I wonder if the issue is with the openal library.

Hi All,

Canonical has recently released the final ISO images of the Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) [1]. Unfortunately Canonical has removed the PowerPC architecture. Consequently Canonical will not releasing PowerPC images anymore. Ubuntu MATE 16.04 will continue to support 32-bit PowerPC until 2019 and Canonical will offer security updates for the version 16.04 until 2021. The latest LTS release is 16.04.3 [2]. Fortunately we have a fork of ubuntu MATE 17.04, which I have updated and released as the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017. Today, I released the version 0.8 of the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017.

New:
  • Some new wallpapers
  • Casey's wallpapers added (Thanks to Casey)
  • Mesa updated to 17.2.1
  • Firefox ESR updated to 52.4.0
  • Thunderbird updated to 52.2.1
  • Qmmp 1.1.3 with Winamp 5 skin added
  • PCSX-Reloaded 1.9.94-2 added
  • MAME 0.182-1 added
  • Samba 4.5.4 added (Thanks to Musa)

Download Size: 5.7 GB

MD5 Checksum: ce85adc88b7b94d2e67d10a9bf192385

Which apps shall I add to the MATE PowerPC Remix 2017 version 0.9?

I will add unrar and Yabause to the version 0.9 and I will completely rebrand the distribution (Thanks to Casey). [3]

BTW, here are the downloads of Julian's ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS USB images:
Another ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS USB image:
After installing, you could update it to version 16.04.3 LTS if you like.

Christian
