NAS Access on Micro A1

Postby Christopher Follett » Mon Jan 16, 2012 6:58 pm

Hi,

I have been trying to connect to my NAS, Ive hacked it to run as a fully fledged server.
Now, I can connect to it very easy in Windows, but is there a program that will let me mount virtual drives in OS4.1?

I had a search around and the solutions that were available, didnt seem to work.

Try SMBMounter

http://os4depot.net/index.php?function= ... ounter.lha

Some NAS's dont work with Amiga versions of Samba so ftp and FTPmount would be the next option the option .

Right, got round to setting up SMBFS and SMBMounter.

However, I enter all the correct details, it refuses to connect.
If i enter hostname it says it doesnt exist.
If I ignore that and enter service (share), it finds all shares on my network.
I then save it, after giving my pass details.
When I click mount, it says it cant find my host, either via IP or name.

I can even quick mount and it asks for my login after finding shares, then says it cant find host.
Its wierd, as it would'nt show shares if it cant find host.

Anyone know, whats wrong?

I use smbfs to connect my miggies to my NAS.
You have to add your NAS ip adress to the prefs/internet host section.

Then use the smbfs command to access the NAS. (you can do a small script and run it via workbench/amidock)
µA1 256mo SATA
A1200PPC 256Mo MediatorTX Radeon9250 SATA RTL8029 SOLO-1
Sam440ep 533mhz 512mo 64Go SSD
Sam460ex 1150mhz 2Go RadeonHD 4650 SoundBlaster Live
AmigaOne X1000 4Go SSD M-AUDIO Revolution

Hi Christopher, glad you got this sorted out! I'd be curious to get to the bottom of the issue you had with SMBMounter though so I might be able to fix it for a future release. Most of the issues tend to be related to network setup, but if you find that smbfs itself works then it's probably a particular case that's confusing SMBMounter. Is there anything particular about the server or shares setup that's unusual?

Not that I know of.
Its a linux server running samba.

As I described before, it would not see server itself, but when you clicked shares they would appear, then you select and it timesout.
After adding it to the prefsnetwork list it worked fine.

And they're both on the same subnet? Cool, I'll see what I can do. I got a similar bug report where the server wouldn't show up due to unexpected extra info in the output from smbclient. I've added a fix for that for the next version, maybe that'll solve it for your setup too...

Yep, same subnet.

Offtopic..
You maybe able to answer another question, I have one router connected to another. How can I get something on the secondary router to see my server on the primary router.
Anything connected to my secondary router cant see devices connected on the primary router.
