I may be wrong here, but most posts about Amiga hardware are ACTUAL Daytime Dramas (or full fledged Soap Opera's)! Many of mine become nighttime dramas or even nightmares.ddni wrote:Interesting read.
Good that you got a basic system running. Now, I await the next installment of your mini soap opera!

Re: Swap partition fail here..
In only my experience, the BigRam is identical to the ZorRam to the point the firmware kind of says so; further except for hitting the Mediator's PCI slots, the BigRam has worked fine for months in my A4000T with the Mediator.tlosmx wrote:i will buy for sure 512 mb of Z3 ram (4 now)... Big ram plus look like isnt compatible with mediator. Zoram is the way for have more ram on my miggy.
thanks
But there is little "chatter" about this on the boards.
Re: Swap partition fail here..
I belive in your experience mate , but some guys say to me that the bigram have some incompatibility problems, plus individual works write in the bigram manual isnt compatible with mediator ...

Re: Swap partition fail here..
Well if that is the case, please don't tell my two A4000Ts! They have Indivision AGA MKII's, Mediators (Radeon 9200's) and BigRamPlus all working in perfect harmony. As noted, ZorRam/BigRamPlus are limited to 256MB due to the Mediator's + Radeon's AutoConfig space usage. That is over 600MB ram under OS 3.9, but I spend 99% of my time in OS 4.1

Re: Swap partition fail here..
OS 4.1 won't be "faster" with a huge swap partition (RAM nor HDD based); it will be less slow when it is forced to go to a SWAP situation.
Yes, I bought my first A4000T in 1996 from SoftWare Hut, and later a "backup/replacement" A4000T when I realized that Commodore/Gateway/Escom was dead. As bare-boned machines, they have held up their value with inflation; however as hardware became no longer made, I added "new" parts to both (CSPPC's, Mediators, Deneb's, Ind. AGA MKII's etc). I added OS 4.1 over a year ago and developed a new interest in it.
