Re: CUPS Printing System to AmigaOS4
I wouldn't be surprised if that's actually the case. Printer support in AmigaOS is pretty bad and is too far behind support seen on other OSes of today. Thinking out of the box would be needed to archive the goal in providing a modern printer support. I'm pretty sure there are different ways in doing that. All which should only be for the better.chris wrote:terminills was porting GutenPrint, which looked good. However I think he abandoned the OS4 version and I've not heard anything about the other versions either for ages.

Not quite true. I stopped working on it as I had no time. So I handed everything over to A-eon. If someday when I have some spare time there still isn't any progress I may pick it back up again.chris wrote:terminills was porting GutenPrint, which looked good. Re: CUPS Printing System to AmigaOS4
I agree that *todays* printing support is far for perfect but before we had the best printer support I've ever seen and of wich I was a big fan : those of Pagestream 3 and more importantly those provided by the "Studio Professional v2.1" software by wolf Faust.HKvalhe wrote: Printer support in AmigaOS is pretty bad and is too far behind support seen on other OSes of today.
this Studio Pro printing system was the most precise and feature packed I've seen, with ics support and scanning abaques available to help to have from the original, the screen and the printer the same colors, the printing results I'd could achieve with those was exceptional even with very modest printers, it was far far ahead of turboprint !!.
even the "modern" printer drivers furnished today with the printers aren't able to compete with it !
an OS4 port of studio pro would be very cool and pretty fast as it IS already Amiga software and very well integrated with AmigaOS, along with updated drivers for the new printers.
even just new drivers for new printers will suffice on a first time.
A-Eon, can you do something for this ? pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase ^^)
