Sytem crashes if left for a few hours only after updating

Post by 328gts »

issue only happened since updating to FE-Update 1 on my X1000. boots fine but if I don't use it for quite a while (2+ hours etc), the screen turns on but system is crashed. no guru. no soft-boot. only thing left to do is shut it off.

actually a few times the same issue has happened immediately after boot up...restarting has solved it BUT this type of behaviour has never happened before updating to FE-Update 1. ???
A1-X1000 setup: Corsair GS800 800w PSU, Western Digital 250 GB SATA HDD (model:WD2500YS), 4GB Ram, Radeon HD7950-3GB GDDR5- Dual Slot, Lite-On RW DVD/CD, On-Board Nemo sound,8139B NIC, Catweasel MK4+

Is Odyssey open during this time?

I've seen that behaviour in the past, probably due to a specific web page that I've opened as a background tab but left the computer without looking at.
I suspect multiple ad videos or animations maybe repeating.

Seen very occasionally before FE-update.1, but appearing to be much more likely after FE-update.1.

FWIW,

@ tbreeden

hmm Odyssey could have been open but I'm certain it's happened more than a few times with absolutely nothing open on the WB i.e turn on computer and then get back to it a few hours later.

I tested for this on my X1000 this morning. Powered on and did not touch it for about 2 1/2 hours. No problems.

Other than the usual parts of the system, the only things running were AmiDoc, Clock.docky, DiskLEDdocky, and X1KTemp.docky.

I did have some immediate unstability after installing Update-1 that may have been caused by still booting with
the old amigaboot.of in BDHDx:, but more likely due to my mistakes when attempting to put the System on a
sb600Sata.device,3 hard disk.

I've let my X1000 and my Sam440 turned on for hours after having powered them on (and forget to swhitch them off) and never encountered any crash. Weird.

well it's been 3 days straight now that this issue hasn't come up and again nothing new has been added/removed both software or hardware wise so very strange??? I'll keep my fingers crossed and hopefully the 1's and 0's stay aligned from now on ;)

@ tbreeden

tried keeping Odyssey open with lots of tabs & still all ok ...perhaps it's specific pages??

You are right. Unfortunately, the culprit is a set of pages I especially want to read:

https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/

Probably their fault. It doesn't crash the Android browsers, but their site has become pretty unusable (at least via my 5Mb internet connection).
I may have to revert to paper :o
