Hello everybody,
I changed my Radeon 4650 into a HIS-Radeon-HD-7750 for a better warp3d and warp3d nova experience. Problem is my Linux Desktop gets really sluggish. The plan therefore ist to reintegrate my old Radeon 4650 as a second Graphik Card for Linux. In order to have MESA acceleration etc. As I am donnot know anything about Linux, here are my questions:
1) What do I have to change on the Amiga side?
2) What do I have to do on the Linux side?
Dual Graphic Cards Linux/AOS4.1 FE ??

I am sorry, I don't have any experiences with two graphics cards in an AmigaOne X1000. AlfredOne has successfully installed two graphics cards in his AmigaOne X1000. His X1000 has a Radeon R9-280X 3GB and a Radeon HIS4670 1GB DDR3. The Radeon R9-280X 3GB has hardware 3D acceleration on OS4.1 and the Radeon HIS4670 1GB DDR3 has hardware 3D acceleration on Linux.

Please contact AlfredOne via pm directly.

Christian

Hi Gerograph,
Julian also use 2 graphics cards in his AmigaOne X5000. Please look in the following thread: Spectre660's Linux downloads for the X5000
Cheers,
Christian

Re: Dual Graphic Cards Linux/AOS4.1 FE ??
Hi all,
I have different question regarding two graphics cards in A1X1000.
I have HD 7970 card in slot 1: PCIe x16. Excellent for AOS, but terrible with linux (no hw accel).
I want to purchase second card HD6670 and want to connect it to slot 2: PCIe x8.
Linux: I know how to setup xorg.cof to use second card only. (The same problem I solved last week, with Powermac G5 Quad and X1900G5 + HD6570).
slot 1: ( PCIe x8 with second card config) HD 7970 used in OpenFirmware and early boot
slot 2: ( PCIe x8) HD6670 used after radeon modules loaded like the only card for linux
AmigaOS:
slot 1: ( PCIe x8 with second card config) HD 7970 used all the time
slot 2: ( PCIe x8) HD6670 is not used.
Is it possible to switch-off somehow the card in slot 2? It will be suitable to have slot 1:(PCIe x16) and slot 2:(PCIe x0) for AmigaOS.
I.e. to switch all lanes lanes in PCI-e mux to slot1 only?
Quick look to OpenFirmware manual gave me no clue...
Another possibility is to put HD6670 to PCI slot, but it is terrible slow (PCI 133MB/s, PCIex8 2GB/s, PCIex16 4GB/s).

Re: Dual Graphic Cards Linux/AOS4.1 FE ??
I still don't know how to switch all 16 PCIe lanes to first card. Maybe it is not possible.
But I test the speed of HD 7970 with PCIe x16 (one card) and x8 (two cards).
SDLBench gives slightly worse resuts, but game speed (Quake3, 1941, Tower57) is exact the same.
